Especially if they are geared towards a gridded game.Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02918057670249529750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7174146262920547660.post-16371662599874756112018-01-10T07:30:12.330+11:002018-01-10T07:30:12.330+11:00I have yet to effectively introduce, or sufficient...I have yet to effectively introduce, or sufficiently differentiate, aim fire and shooting twice. Your suggestion of a D6+1 could by a useful way of doing that and I will give it a try. I also use a grid (Kallistra hex grid), figures also have a number of action points, and each action costs a number of action points.

However, I am also using a mechanic for firing that fits very well with a gridded system. For a standard firearm to hit, a figure has to roll a D8 equal to or greater than the distance in hexes (other weapons roll a D4, or a D6 etc). This mechanic allows for a nice degradation of a to-hit chance by distance.
Moreover, it provides a nice option for the player: stay put and take shots at a longer range (I allow multiple shots per turn), or spend action points and move closer, to get a better chance at shooting.

If you want to know more, check out the "Antares 2401 Campaign" posts on my blog: http://snv-ttm.blogspot.be/search/label/Antares2401%20CampaignPhil Dutréhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13607941040736764291noreply@blogger.com
