I am finding the straight forward figures of Spencer-Smith a refreshing change to paint.
I think the activation approach fits quite nicely for a SciFi game with squads as it gives them a change to do something, even if it is to retire.Peterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02918057670249529750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7174146262920547660.post-19633972040936204502017-04-10T17:12:58.835+10:002017-04-10T17:12:58.835+10:00Will this activation system be making its way to y...Will this activation system be making its way to your rules page, please?nobbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02552663142940856622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7174146262920547660.post-79490654309299770442017-04-10T09:08:58.160+10:002017-04-10T09:08:58.160+10:00Quite right, Norm!Quite right, Norm!Jonathan Freitaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07862373894196924886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7174146262920547660.post-46682152013366446362017-04-10T09:08:40.779+10:002017-04-10T09:08:40.779+10:00I like your newly recruited dragoons.

While a unit may always do SOMETHING, that SOMETHING may not always be what is optimal or desired. From a command perspective that makes sense. Even a nearby leader cannot guarantee what operation a unit will undertake. Nifty idea and requires further consideration for me.Jonathan Freitaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07862373894196924886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7174146262920547660.post-28978533984583100102017-04-10T09:07:46.261+10:002017-04-10T09:07:46.261+10:00This comment has been removed by the author.Jonathan Freitaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07862373894196924886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7174146262920547660.post-13911631233147577712017-04-10T07:03:11.945+10:002017-04-10T07:03:11.945+10:00Yes, it does bring a level of uncertainty which is...Yes, it does bring a level of uncertainty which is helpful when playing. Also, when moving into terrain movement must cease, so the likelihood of a unit moving three squares is reduced, but still possible.
With a Black Ops style game one approach could be for two odd (move) scores being used for a single cautious movement and overwatch units cannot react.
Good luck working through with your Black Ops hex based version.
Regards, PeterPeterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02918057670249529750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7174146262920547660.post-80876644549933497472017-04-09T20:47:40.137+10:002017-04-09T20:47:40.137+10:00Hi Peter,

If you get three odd results, does this still mean a maximum of only two moves?

I'm looking to do a hex grid version of Black Ops and this looks like a perfect activation solution.

Cheers

JayOld Trousershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16866101372406631079noreply@blogger.com
