Not a lot to post about this weekend due to being busy with other commitments, but I did manage to paint a couple of bases of Medieval crossbow men. A few weeks ago I purchased a few additional Minifig crossbow men to make up a complete unit. All my spare medieval figures are now painted.

On the gaming side of things I was able to pick up a secondhand copy of the Battle Cry game. As a bonus I was able to purchase it a in Australia and avoided costly postage.

I am now looking forward to some wargaming time soon.
Another fine unit there Peter and I immediately recognised those figures, as I had one or two that were used in our D&D games way back in the mists of time (ie 1970's!).

DeleteCongratulations on the acquisition of Battle Cry (in the 150th anniversary edition to boot). It took me several attempts and perseverance to get my copy. I kept getting outbid by bid nabbers on eBay and then when I managed to get a copy at a reasonable price, the useless couriers lost it! I eventually got another copy after that, but before that despaired that I would ever get hold on the game.

It took me a few months of keeping an eye to until a suitable game appeared. Having the 150th edition was a bonus.
DeleteThe crossbowmen look grand Peter and Battle Cry is a smashing game with loads of scenarios. I once spent a month playing them all and had a great time.

DeleteYou can never go wrong with a unit or two of crossbowmen. I bought some for my Lion Rampant gaming and they're useful chaps.

DeleteI like those crossbow men. Painted up nicely, and well based. I like the fact there is a man-at-arms on each base to provide a bit of backbone.

DeleteLove Minifigs apart from the bendy Spears. My armies are all Minifigs, Lamming and Hinchcliffe...new figures don't have that charm

Hi Pete. Glad you are enjoying the blog. I do prefer the traditional 25mm figures too. The new Minifigs seem to come with separate weapons which is nice. I preferred the Hinchcliffe ECW pikemen with wire for pikes, although the pikes could give fingers a sharp jab.

Congratulations on getting Battle Cry. I got the first version, where artillery took two hits. I really like the artillery in the 150th edition.

ReplyDeleteWell done on getting the game. I always think anything sold in Australia has less chance of bids from overseas due to postage. So sometimes it can go in our favour. 😊
I do like the option to mix up the figure poses on a base when I can, certainly for the ancient and medieval periods.
