My one big project this year will be to paint up my Hinchliffe English Civil War figures. A few were damaged beyond prepare and I have put in an order for some replacements with Hinds Figures Ltd who thankfully still produce Hinchcliffe miniatures.

Yesterday and today I worked out the approach I want to take with basing and painting. The paining will be very straight forward, no dry brushing or washes, and finished off with a semi-gloss sealer to protect the figures.
I generally complete one unit per week, sometimes two if I am being productive. So with 32 units to complete I expect this project will keep me busy for the next 6 to 9 months.
Lovely looking unit Peter.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I was not sure how they would turn out. But pleased with the end result and the style is reasonably quick to paint.
DeleteI like the look of these units.
ReplyDelete32 units sounded like a lot till I remembered that that would be both sides combined.
Enjoy!
Looking at 6 foot, 2 dragoons, 2 artillery, and 6 cavalry per side. Plus any additional figures I may succumb to buying over the next few months.
DeletePeter- excellent start on your ECW project- fortunate you can source the extra figures you need. One Regiment a week sounds very doable- taking your time to do a good job of it- well done. Cheers. KEV.
ReplyDeleteYes, very fortunate they are still available. Once I get a few units done I will be able to play a few one-hour wargaming games.
DeleteI'm looking forward to seeing what rules you come up with for this as well.
ReplyDeleteMy starting point will be either one-hour wargames or pikeman's lament. I have read with interest your game reports and variation of one-hour war-game rules.
DeleteI have a version of Bob Cordery's Portable Wargame for it as well. That's square-gridded from the outset :)
DeletePL is fun, but the pike and shot are separate types, which may influence how you might want to base the units.
I had forgotten you utilised the portable wargame rules. Those paper figures and OHW just stuck in my memory. And thanks for the heads up on basing.
