Sci-Fi terrain made from old light-fittings

We recently replaced some old light-fittings. I think they were probably from the 1980 era and their shapes were quite interesting and the wargaming side of my mind was thinking how can I use this for my sci-fi terrain. The lights were dismantled, cleaned and prepared with a coat of PVA glue. They were then painted in a series of metallic looking paints

The various bits prepared ready for painting.

The finished items with some figures for scale.

Then setup on the gaming table for a game.

  1. You are very creative! The rounded shape reminds me of vintage Sci-Fi.

    1. Thank you, you would almost expect Flash Gordon to pop out from behind them.

  2. Good thinking there Peter- the Light Fittings when painted up look rather 'Art-Deco' / 'Gothic' - just the thing for 40K etc. Regards. KEV.

    1. Thanks KEV. I am often on the lookout for objects to use, more often when walking around the hardware store.

  4. Innovative and environmentally friendly! I love your approach of looking at old junk with an imaginative eye. I look at stuff and think it might be useful but rarely come up with any ideas. The use of wooden dowls for gabions a being a rare exception.

    1. Recycling has its benefits. I did like your wooden dowel baboons - very clever.

    1. These worked out well. Sometimes they don't work out and still make their way into the bin.
