Over the past few days I have added a siege tower and battering ram for some planned siege games. Here are a few photos. A trebuchet and bombard are next on my list to make.

The siege engines approach the castle walls |
As with the castle the siege tower and battering ram are made from blocks of wood simply fashioned with all details painted on.

A simple wooden shape was used for the siege tower |

An attack on the walls. |

Some animal skins have been added to the roof of the battering ram. |
As the siege machines get build I had batter start considering the rules to be used.
Nice work there Peter- the new Siege Machines look terrific- very effective.
ReplyDeleteOnce I add a few more pieces I will be able to get them into a game.
DeleteNeat additions to your arsenal, Peter!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I now need to thing of some siege rules.
DeleteNicely Done!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, they were fun to make.
DeleteThe painted on detail is incredibly effective. I still think you need to find some jumbo cardboard tubes in a skip somewhere to add some stylish towers to your castle.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know the tubing you are talking about. It would be nice to have some round towers.
DeleteSorry, I hadn't meant that to be anonymous.
DeleteHi Rob, no worries.
DeleteWorks of art. You really do produce some exceptional models!
ReplyDeleteThank you, It always surprises me what some paint can do. Even when painted to wargaming standards.
DeleteThat looks fantastic Peter!
ReplyDeleteThanks, the weather is looking good so I hope to get the trebuchet and bombard done this weekend.
DeleteThey work a treat and remind me of the articles in the Airfix magazine from 1969-70 on scratch building these. I keep meaning to give them ago for old times sake as we made the siege engine, but none of the others, as they were too difficult with the tools we had to hand.
ReplyDeleteLots of balsa wood and plastic card was required for some of their models.
