The painting of my old Minifigs, some secondhand Minifigs S-Range, and a few Dixon Samurai figures I had hidden away is progressing slowly and steadily. I have been able to avoid any other painting temptations and have now reached the point where I could have a small One-Hour Wargames style game.

All the figures and units completed to date. |
I am about half way through painting all the models I have stashed away in their various boxes. The painting began back in June 2021, so at this rate I recon I have another 5 months to go before nearing completion.

Colour schemes are kept simple with a red and a blue army |

The blue army |
The painting is to a wargaming standards, where I try and keep things simple and easy to do with block painting.

Some old Dixon miniatures are the latest to leave the painting table. |
Spectacular and gorgeous units Peter, lovely colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks, the colours do make painting the samurai enjoyable.
DeleteGreat work Peter and the bright block colours approach works a treat. A period I always wondered about purely from an aesthetic point of view, but know nothing about the type of battles etc.
ReplyDeleteI am finding out more about the period re-reading books as the painting progresses. Thanks.
DeleteGreat work painting these lovely figures
ReplyDeleteIt is pleasing getting some of these figures finally painted after some 30 plus years in boxes.
DeleteSuper job on these Japanese, Peter! These armies with banners really ‘pop’ on the table. Seeing them in open battle will be a treat.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to getting them into a small game soon. Thanks.
DeleteGreat to see some older figures on the table. These look absolutely superb.
ReplyDeleteThe older figures do have a charm about them and are straightforward to paint.
DeleteWith 10+ units a side already, why not paint up a few units as allied clans with a purple mon/banner i.e. half-way between blue and red. Or a couple of allies say Yellow and Black+White for a bit of variation. This would also allow for some treachery on the field of battle - something that should be worrying any Samurai War Lord.
ReplyDeleteA few clans of dubious loyalties would be interesting.
DeleteLooking great sir. It's always nice when you get to a point where you can start getting a few games on the table.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I now need to ponder what rules to try. Never Mind the Billhooks looks interesting with mixed units and different battles/clans.
DeleteReally impressive and colourful!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
I do like the colour of this period.
