Painting of fantasy models, or model, continued this week. It has been quite a while since I have painted any model this detailed, and it was enjoyable to spend time using both washes and dry brushing. Quite a change from the recent block painting I have been doing, which works well for me when I am painting quite a few figures.

An Eternal commander painted up this week.

From the storage box of painted Orcs and Goblins I selected some Goblins on spiders and rebased them.

A recent purchase arrived of Mantic Kings or War figures, some Elves and Centaurs. I hope to get around to these in the next couple of weeks, but first I will be gluing together and painting the Eternals from the starter set.

Lovely work there Peter and digital sculpting really has allowed so much detail to be added to the figures, as well as animation. I'm not sure I have the stamina to paint this sort of figure anymore! I'm more than happy with my block painting on 10mm figures, which look fine when on the table.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautifully detailed models. Painting a few is enjoyable, but does take a while and is slow progress when painting anything other than a skirmish force.
DeleteBeautiful job on that Eternal commander, Peter! I love the shadows and highlights of the cloak in particular. And the highlights on the armor. Ok, I love all of it!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I spent a bit of time on the cloak, I find they are tricky things to paint compared with more detailed areas of the model which are quite easily washed and dry brushed.
DeleteStriking work on the Eternal commander model.
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderfully detailed model which picks up the washes and dry brushing very nicely. I particularly like the beast the Eternal is riding.
DeleteThat Eternal Commander is quite the model!
ReplyDeleteThanks. The model has a striking pose and should stand out nicely on the tabletop.
DeleteWow, the GW fantasy figures are like fantastical on steroids. Nice job though as the dude came out great. 😀
ReplyDeleteNice purchase; it’s fun to show off the new boxes. We all love getting miniatures in the mail. 😀
The latest Games Workshop ranges are certainly detailed and there are quite a few larger figures. Fun to paint a handful for a skirmish game, but a lot of painting hours to paint a full army of these detailed models.
DeleteVery nice Peter! The cloak is fantastic. The spiders look great on their new bases.
ReplyDeleteA fair few minis in those boxes. Should keep you busy for a week or two. 😊
Thank you. I suspect this project could run until early next year.
